The Mineral County Fair is held each August, hosting events such as livestock judging and displays by civic groups, 4-h Clubs, Homemakers and Future Farmers of America. Entertainment includes carnival rides, live performances from national country stars.

"Running the North Branch," features rafting and canoeing on the Potomac River. This Popular event each April and May attracts families from up and down the east coast due to its thrilling ride and beautiful mountainous scenery.

The Burlington Apple Harvest Festival recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. This festival is held the first weekend in October and offers a wide variety of apple treats from cider to apple dumplings along with ham other country fare. The festival emphasizes the importance of apples in the local economy and educates the public on the historical traditions with apple production.

The two-day event includes the Apple Harvest Parade and one of the largest flea markets in the region. There are three large craft tents with displays and demonstrations featuring local, juried craftsmen and vendors which has become a significant regional event for handmade works of art. Entertainment includes musicians from throughout the region playing a broad spectrum of sounds for young and old alike.

The Keyser Strawberry Festival is held the first weekend in June and like the Apple Harvest Festival features an unending variety of strawberry treats from fruit topped funnel cakes to strawberries by the quart to strawberry pie. Craft vendors, displays and demonstrations are one of the draws but center stage is the banjo and fiddle competition that draws players from a wide area. The best dressed dog competition comes in a close second, drawing pooches of pedigree and the Heinz variety who strut before the judges with their owners for recognition.

Cumberland’s Heritage Days  in the spring and Rail Fest in the fall can kick off and close a summer that will make anyone find plenty to do. These multi-day events focus on the importance of the rail ways to the entire region. Rides on the Mountain Thunder (old, steam engine) from Cumberland to Frostburg on the 32 mile incline attracts young and old to the Festival.  Specialty vendors, ethnic food and drink as well as a variety of entertainment attracts the interest of people from the 4 state region.

During the summer, friday nights in downtown Cumberland feature “Friday's after Five” - a weekly event in the center of town (when weather permits) on Baltimore and surrounding streets. Several types of bands create a party atmosphere while various shops and restaurants are open sometimes with special fare.
